Tokyo Gaijin 0 Komaba WMM 12

Another year, another final, another disappointment.

Despite a sterling first-half effort into the wind against the overwhelming favourites - in two years and eight matches of Tokyo Cup rugby, Komaba WMM had not failed to post 50 points in a game - Tokyo Gaijin eventually succumbed to some elusive running and, perhaps, a degree of over-confidence that resulted from the monumental first 40.

Kameari 26 Tokyo Gaijin 37

Is Dave Kelver the best rugby player in Japan right now? Of course not. That's just dumb. But he's pretty handy and it was due in large part to his sterling form and to the outstanding work of the tight five - and in particular, the front row of Mark 'Maple Leaf' Pearson, Yukio 'Samurai' Suyama, and Chris 'Pubescent' Lucas - that Tokyo Gaijin finds itself in its second final in successive years.

RiJ this week brings you continuing Asian Qualification for RWC 07. The Sunday before in Tokyo the CBs played their first home Test of the season & put Hong Kong to the sword 91-3.  This weekend in Seoul the CBs took revenge for the draw last year with a 50-31 victory over Korea. RiJ also squeezes in this week a brief report on the recent Sanix World Rugby Youth Invitational Tournament 2005. Bit of a mouthful, but a good tourney that brings together an interesting mix of Rugby & social cultures through high schools.

Back to a Kizooch Field at Tobu-Dobutsu-Koen that had metamorphosed from last year's infectious-disease-transmitting swamp into a semi-arid dust-bowl, to play in a mini-tournament that supposedly aided in some way Japan's national deaf rugby side in their preparations for the upcoming World Cup in Wales.
